Mentors & Partnerships

We are privileged to work with an exceptional network of partner schools, tutors and mentors across West Yorkshire, who bring years of experience and knowledge to the programme. Their professional support and dedication is invaluable and allows us to offer the best possible experience to our trainees.
The AA Teamworks Mentoring Programme is designed to provide high-quality support and professional development for mentors working with trainee teachers. This programme offers a bespoke continuing professional development (CPD) package, with tailored training sessions to enhance mentoring skills and subject knowledge. To ensure a personalised approach, each mentor completes a self-audit upon joining, identifying key areas for growth and informing their individual training pathway.
The programme includes specialist training, for example in: Primary subject specific development, developmental coaching, and interpreting educational research, delivered by expert practitioners. What makes the Teamworks mentoring programme unique is its access to the latest evidence-informed practice from the Trust’s Research School, literacy expertise from the Trust’s English Hub, and training led by highly skilled professionals from both primary and secondary settings. While mentors support trainee teachers, they also receive ongoing guidance and development opportunities to strengthen their own practice.

Saleha

“I thoroughly enjoy my role as a Mentor working on the Teamworks SCITT program supporting trainees in the primary phase. Working with other mentors and liaising with senior leaders and other teachers has helped me to develop my own practice and skills. I feel very privileged to work closely with trainees on a daily basis.”

Jonathan

“I have been fortunate to be a mentor on the AA Teamworks West Yorkshire SCITT over the last two years. The support from Hollie and the rest of the team at the SCITT has been exceptional. Weekly sessions and ITAPs at the SCITT are always communicated along with professional learning targets to support the trainee’s development. Hollie provides a range of support for mentor development such as drop-in sessions, mentor training, QA vitis and open lines of communication which has really benefited me in developing my role as a mentor. I look forward to my continued partnership with the SCITT in years to come.”
