How to Apply

All applicants must apply online. To select us as a provider, go to: Find courses by location or by training provider – Find teacher training courses – GOV.UK and search for AA Teamworks West Yorkshire SCITT using the institution code 2AT.

Before starting the application process, please check that you meet the entry requirements for our programme.

The Interview Process - What to Expect

The interview itself will consist of:

A formal interview with a panel of SCITT staff/teachers from across our partnership
A 15-30 minute, engagement task
A short-written task.

We aim to make your interview as easy and stress-free as possible. You will receive your invitation by email, and this will include details of the venue, what you will need to bring with you and what to expect on the day. We also include our contact details and encourage you to call us prior to the date if you have any questions in respect of our courses or any part of the interview.

References

Within the application form all applicants need to provide the contact details of two referees – we recommend that you have one professional referee (ideally from your previous employer) and one academic referee, usually your university tutor. If you have spent some time in a school, it may be beneficial to have a reference from the class teacher that you worked with or the school’s Headteacher. We advise all of our applicants to speak to their referees to gain permission to use their details, and to advise them that we will be in touch to request a reference if your application is successful.

Please also make sure you include details of all your qualifications in your application (not just the statutory ones) and all employment history, not just that relating to experience in schools.

International Applicants

We welcome applications from anyone who is eligible to study in the UK. As a SCITT we are not eligible to register as a Tier 4 Visa Sponsor so unfortunately cannot accept applications from international students from outside the EU who don’t already have the required right to study in the UK.

Safeguarding Children and Young People

AA Teamworks West Yorkshire SCITT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff, trainee teachers and everyone involved in Teamworks SCITT shares this commitment and are therefore expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment at all times.

Appointment to any of our QTS programmes will be subject to the following pre-employment checks:

Identity
Right to work in the UK
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a check of the Children’s Barred List
Relevant work qualifications
Health/fitness to train screening (confidentially through a third-party occupational health company)
Satisfactory references
An online search.

A start date for successful applicants will not be confirmed until clearance from all the above checks has been obtained.

Please note that the DBS check will reveal all convictions, reprimands, cautions and bindovers even if considered spent within the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. There is a DBS Code of Practice which governs this process, a copy of which can be found at DBS code of practice – GOV.UK
